How to start a band?

Starting a band and maintaining it for a long period of time requires a lot of will power and determination, but if you do everything right, it will definetly pay of. I was in a lot of bands in my life, and everyone was different from the other, but some things remained the same.  Here are some advices from me experience, on how to start a good band:

• If you want to start a band from scratch it is wise to know how to play a crucial instrument such as the guitar or drums or bass, because these instruments provide a great amount of the music played in the band, and if you have the knoledge over these instruments you can easily steer the band in the musical direction that you prefer, because other band mates will have to follow your lead.
• Start a band with one or two good friends. This way you already know the people with whom you'll have to work, and will prevent akward intereactions with a stranger in the band, you will play more fluently and quickly. Furthermore you will have a somwhat same music taste, this will prevent conflicts about the directions of the band.
• Have your own equipment. Not having or depending on someone elsess equipment can be a true show stopper for the whole collective, so it is wise to have your own.
• Having your own practice area is always better than renting or using someone elsess, because uo can can play whenever you want and not have to deal with other peoples graphics.
• Have a somwhat predetermined style of music you'll want to play. This way the whole band will avoid future conflicts on the direction of the band.
